How is it made?
ECONYL® is made using a closed-loop production process, which means that the materials are recycled and repurposed in a sustainable and circular way. Here's how it works:
- The first step is to collect waste materials, such as fishing nets and industrial plastic waste, from various sources.
- The waste materials are then cleaned and processed to remove any impurities or contaminants.
- Next, the materials are transformed into a nylon polymer using a chemical process called depolymerization. This process breaks down the waste materials into their basic components and converts them into a high-quality nylon material.
- Finally, the nylon polymer is spun into yarn and used to create a wide range of products, including swimwear.
At Understatement, we are proud to use ECONYL® yarn in our swimwear production. By choosing our products you are contributing to a more sustainable and responsible fashion industry.
